Sixty-nine percent of burn injuries occur at home, followed by nine percent at work,
and most are accidental.
Serious burn injuries occur most commonly in young male adults ages 20-29 followed by children younger than 9 years of age.
Cases filed involved second- and third-degree burn injuries; over 62 percent resulted in compensation for the injured ranging from thousands to millions of dollars, depending on the extent of the injury, impact on life, and future medical expenses.
