Most burn injuries occur at home or work.

Sixty-nine percent of burn injuries occur at home, followed by nine percent at work,
and most are accidental.

Young male adults and children are most at risk.

Serious burn injuries occur most commonly in young male adults ages 20-29 followed by children younger than 9 years of age.

Nearly 10,000 burn injury cases resolved in U.S. Federal Court since 2000

Cases filed involved second- and third-degree burn injuries; over 62 percent resulted in compensation for the injured ranging from thousands to millions of dollars, depending on the extent of the injury, impact on life, and future medical expenses.
